PETALING JAYA:
Home minister Hamzah Zainudin has recovered from Covid-19 and was discharged from hospital less than two weeks after he first tested positive for the virus.

In a statement, Hamzah said he was discharged from the University Malaya Medical Centre on Jan 24 and thanked frontliners for their tireless service in treating him.

“I want to take this opportunity to call on all Malaysians to continue following the SOPs (standard operating procedures) set by the health ministry and to fully cooperate with frontliners and the government in its efforts to break the chain of Covid-19 infection,” he said.

Last week, Hamzah’s office rubbished rumours that the minister’s health had deteriorated.

He was the third Cabinet member to recently contract the virus and the second to recover after minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (economy) Mustapa Mohamed.
