PETALING JAYA:
Three national footballers, including Harimau Malaya captain Farizal Marlias, today visited a fan who was injured in the violence that was sparked by the country’s win over neighbours Indonesia on Thursday.

Farizal, along with defender Shahrul Saad and forward Syafiq Ahmad, accompanied by Football Association of Malaysia general secretary Stuart Ramalingam, dropped by Mohd Zulrani Helmi Mohd Zakri’s house in Kuala Lumpur.

Zulrani broke his left arm after trouble broke out at the Gelora Bung Karno stadium in Jakarta after Malaysia came from behind to beat Indonesia 3-2 in the 2022 World Cup/2023 Asian Cup qualifying match in front of more than 50,000 supporters.

Indonesian fans also hurled bottles and other objects into the area housing Malaysian supporters.

The Harimau Malaya squad, including officials, were later ferried in armoured vehicles to their hotel for safety reasons.

In a Facebook post, FAM said they visited Zulrani as they appreciated his support. “We are grateful that he was willing to fly to Indonesia to support the Harimau Malaya squad.”

FAM presented Zulrani with a ticket to watch Malaysia play the United Arab Emirates in their second Group G qualifying match in Bukit Jalil on Tuesday.
