Malay daily Berita Harian, citing sources, reported that the six had buckled under legal pressure from Umno which filed a lawsuit against them after they left the party last month.
A party source claimed that the six MPs had held discussions with Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan and Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, who chairs the party’s council of advisers, before submitting their application forms last week.
The six are said to be those who left the party on Dec 14, namely Hamzah Zainudin (Larut), Shabudin Yahaya (Tasik Gelugor), Abdul Latiff Ahmad (Mersing), Rosol Wahid (Hulu Terengganu), Mohamad Fasiah Mohd Fakeh (Sabak Bernam) and Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah).
Annuar, when contacted by FMT, refused to comment on the matter.
Umno lost 17 MPs, including the six supposedly seeking a return, following Barisan Nasional’s defeat in the May 9 polls.
FMT is attempting to contact the six MPs.
