PETALING JAYA:
The PAS non-Muslim wing has held its first annual general meeting after being formally incorporated into the Islamic party as an associate wing.

PAS central committee member Annuar Musa said the convention was held at Kolej Universiti Islam Zulkifli Muhammad in Pahang, with party secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan and vice-president Idris Ahmad, among others, present.

Annuar said the holding of the meeting showed that PAS “is inclusive, moderate, non-racial and tolerant” following Islamic principles, and the party as well as Perikatan Nasional would ensure the rights of all people would be preserved according to the constitution.

“In fact, there is a need for us to do more in upholding the rights of minorities,” Annuar said in a Facebook post.

The non-Muslim supporters wing was made an associate wing in September last year, giving it equal standing to the ulama, women’s and youth wings. More than 10,000 non-Muslims are PAS members through this wing, Takiyuddin had said.
