KUALA LUMPUR: Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister Xavier Jayakumar today assured that it is “100% safe” to drink water directly from the tap.
“The water from our taps is safe to be drunk,” he said during question-and-answer session at the Dewan Rakyat today. “No problem.
“If there are problems, it is a local problem and not because of water treatment plants.
“The water from water plants nationwide is 100% safe to be drunk directly.”
This prompted Ismail Mohamed Said (BN-Kuala Krau) to ask if the minister himself drank water directly from the tap.
“Yes, I drink straight from the tap,” Jayakumar replied.
