The state’s liaison chief, Hasni Mohammad, said he was told that the seizure order came from Bukit Aman yesterday.
The red-and-white vans, which were under the care of the state’s Wanita Umno wing, were ordered seized by police who were acting on a court order yesterday.
Hasni told FMT that 18 vans were surrendered yesterday and the remaining ones were surrendered today.
Johor Wanita Umno members had been using the vans for their community programmes.
He, however, could not confirm whether the seizure had anything to do with the 1MDB scandal or the RM2.6 billion received by Najib Razak.
“The vans were used to transport Umno members to meet with the grassroots.”
Hasni said police had not given any feedback on the matter or indicated how long the vans would be in their possession.
The state opposition leader said they would heed the order and cooperate fully with the authorities.
He hoped the confiscation was not politically motivated.
