KOTA KINABALU:
Sabah PKR is backing Anwar Ibrahim to be the party’s next president.

State PKR chief Christina Liew said the Sabah leadership fully supported Anwar’s intention to vie for the presidency in the party election this August.

“The unanimous decision was reached during a special meeting by the state PKR leadership yesterday (July 21) at our party headquarters.

“We feel the decision by Anwar is right and embodies the political reality today which needs his leadership to steer the party to greater heights,” she said in a statement today.

At the same time, Sabah PKR paid tribute to the present president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail for her contributions in propelling the party to be the backbone for the new Malaysian government.

Liew lauded Wan Azizah’s efforts and consistency which have managed to push the party’s agenda for reformation and change and subsequently crushed Barisan Nasional’s dominance in Sabah and at the federal level.

“We hope the new party leadership will continue to support Sabah PKR and the Sabah government in mobilising the agenda for change in line with the central government’s reformation agenda,” she said.
