Najib claims trial to CBT, abuse of power

Prosecution asks for bail to be set at RM1 million for each charge against him.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Former prime minister Najib Razak has pleaded not guilty to all four charges of criminal breach of trust and abuse of power in relation to the transfer of RM42 million to his private bank account from SRC International Sdn Bhd.

He claimed trial before judge Sofian Abdul Razak at the High Court here today, following the charges earlier levelled against him at the Sessions Court.

The prosecution led by Attorney-General Tommy Thomas asked for bail to be set at RM1 million per charge, amounting to a total of RM4 million.

Each of the four charges carries a prison sentence of up to 20 years. The abuse of power charge carries a fine of not less than five times the value of gratification.
