KUALA LUMPUR:
Weary press members waiting outside former prime minister Najib Razak’s house in Taman Duta here were taken by surprise when a welfare group brought food for them this evening.

As the police raid on the house entered its fourth day, Kembara Kitchen founder William Cheah and his wife were seen carrying 35 packs of a vegetarian meal consisting of fried rice and tofu at 7pm, twenty minutes before the breaking of fast for Muslims.

Cheah, 45, said he decided to send the food to the media representatives on duty there as he knew they were staking out the area round the clock and it was also the Muslim holy month.

“You guys are the heroes and this is just a small contribution to show our thanks,” he said.

“It is also the fasting month and I understand that you all cannot just leave your posts, so this is something from us.

“We owe it all to the press. If I could do this every day, I would,” he added.

Cheah said the contribution was not much compared to the work the press corp was undertaking.
