“Any changes of position or coalition in the state should be done via a fresh election process,” said Bersih.
It was reported that Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), a key member of the ruling BN state government, had held talks with PH chairman and Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to join PH.
However, PBB’s Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who is state minister of tourism, arts and culture, youth and sports, denied that the party was in any negotiations with PH.
Meanwhile, in Perak, two assemblymen from BN switched to PH, giving the latter a majority of 31 seats to form the Perak state government. BN and PAS each has 25 and three seats respectively in the state legislature.
In Sabah, the state governor has summoned assemblymen from Parti Warisan Sabah and PH parties DAP and PKR, as well as six former BN reps who defected yesterday, to the palace tonight to be possibly sworn in as the new government.
With the six reps who were from Umno and Upko joining them, the PH-Warisan pact now has 35 state seats over BN’s 25. Warisan president Shafie Apdal is expected to be made chief minister.
