Ministry raps school after girl killed by loose mower blade

SK Tuanku Abdul Rahman had allowed grass-cutting to go on during a sports day rehearsal in February.

SEREMBAN: The Education Ministry has issued a warning letter to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tuanku Abdul Rahman in Gemas for negligence following the death of a girl due to a flying blade from a lawn mower in February.

Negeri Sembilan director of education, Pkharuddin Ghazali, said the letter was issued last month.

The school had allowed grass cutting to go on during a sports day rehearsal on Feb 13.

Nur Afini Roslan, 14, was killed when a mower-blade flew off. Two others were injured: Mohd Farhan Reza Badrol Hesam, 13, and Abdullah Hazlan, 14.

Pkharuddin said Takaful compensation of RM5,500 was presented to the victim’s family on Feb 23.
