The Gelang Patah MP said this was one of five questions he wanted Annuar to answer before he responded to Annuar’s recent criticism against him and PPBM chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Bernama had reported Annuar as telling a dialogue held by Umno in Kuala Lumpur yesterday that DAP would continue to make use of anyone, including former Umno leaders like Mahathir, for its political survival.
“There are several outstanding people in Malaysian politics, but not many can win over or woo Tun Dr Mahathir, including Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and Anwar Ibrahim,” Annuar had said.
“Kit Siang had never been to the Umno office when Tun Mahathir was in Umno. But finally, Tun (Dr) Mahathir visited the DAP office,” he said, referring to Mahathir stepping into the DAP headquarters to chair the Pakatan Harapan (PH) presidential council meeting on Oct 2.
Former prime minister Mahathir, 92, is also PH chairman.
“Now, Kit Siang is able to lure and tame Tun Mahathir,” Annuar had added while accusing Lim of being a political dictator.
In a statement today, Lim called on Annuar to reply to his questions first.
The DAP parliamentary leader asked how many cases of corruption and abuses of power the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had investigated Annuar for in relation to Mara and the outcome of these investigations.
He also asked if Prime Minister Najib Razak had to give the “green light” before MACC could arrest and prosecute Annuar for corruption as Mara chairman and other responsibilities under the federal body.
“Third, Annuar was suspended as chairman of Mara as well as chairman of Pelaburan Mara Bhd (PMB) at an emergency Mara board meeting on Jan 31, 2017 when he was visiting New Zealand as Mara chairman.
“Why did he submit to such shabby indignity, and what did he do in the ensuing six months to establish his innocence and honesty as well as the injustice of his suspension as Mara chairman?”
Lim also asked why Annuar, who is also Ketereh MP, had announced in August that he had no plan to continue being the Mara chairman when he was not withdrawing from public life as he continued to be active as Umno information chief.
“Fifth, was his nation-wide roadshow to attack and demonise DAP and Pakatan Harapan leaders in his capacity as Umno information chief one of the terms of agreement between him and the prime minister so that he could relinquish the post of Mara chairman but continue as Umno information chief?”
Annuar, who was president of the Kelantan Football Association until November 2016, had come under investigation earlier this year after Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim accused him of abusing his position at Mara to force Pelaburan Mara Bhd (PMB) to sponsor the football team along with Universiti Kuala Lumpur.
In March this year, he had organised an essay competition with the title “Adakah benar Lim Kit Siang seorang rasis, anti-Islam dan 51 tahun diktator?” (“Is it true that Lim Kit Siang is racist, anti-Islam and a 51-year-old dictator?”). It came with a RM10,000 cash prize.
