PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) says it is investigating an incident this morning which saw the tyres of a passenger plane deflating while landing.

“Malaysia Airlines flight MH726 from Jakarta today had two of its tyres deflated after landing safely at KL International Airport at 7.13am.

“The airline will be investigating the cause of the incident on the Boeing 737-800 (738) aircraft,” MAS said in a statement today.

The airline added that Runway 2 at KLIA would be closed until further notice.

Meanwhile, passengers and crew members safely disembarked and were transferred by bus to the terminal, along with their baggage.

“Due to aircraft shortage, some flights utilising this aircraft will be upgraded to be operated by the Airbus 330 aircraft and we are looking into deploying the Airbus 380 aircraft to service the Australian routes,” MAS said.

The airline added that safety was its main priority at all times, apologising for any inconvenience caused to passengers.
