PETALING JAYA:
Red Shirt leader Jamal Md Yunos and two supporters have been placed in remand for four days for investigations into a clash between protesters in Ampang last Sunday.

The trio are being investigated for rioting and obstructing a public servant.

Jamal, who is Sungai Besar Umno division chief, was arrested by police at a hotel where he was staying.

Last week Jamal was reported to have been punched in the nose in a melee at the Ampang Point shopping centre where PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin and members of her wing were promoting the Bersih 5 rally.

Jamal and his Red Shirt supporters went after the PKR women through the main concourse of the centre, shouting and remonstrating with the women.

Police stepped in to block their path resulting in an altercation, as seen on a video clip posted on the Internet. Jamal was seen bleeding and accusing the police of punching him.

He later told FMT that “out of nowhere a man in a yellow t-shirt” punched him.
