KUALA LUMPUR:
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has been accused of allocating only 10 per cent of a total of RM900 million worth of projects to Bumiputera contractors within a period of one year.

President of the Federal Territory Malay Contractors Association of Malaysia (PKMM) Zaharani Yusof Omar said DBKL should be more fair and transparent in its selection process of contractors.

He also urged City Hall to give priority to Bumiputera contractors located and operating within the federal capital to implement the project under DBKL supervision.

“In other states, only local contractors located within their respective states would be given a chance,” he told reporters here today.

In the meantime, Ahmed Zaharani lauded City Hall’s efforts to sign up the Corporate Integrity Pledge (CIP) alongside 44 contractors with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Monday.

Ahmad Zaharani, who represented 1,342 members of the association, also suggested that extra clauses be added into the documents which would allow the contractors involved to be investigated and action taken if there were elements of corruption present.
