PETALING JAYA:
Sungei Besar Umno division chief Jamal Yunos said he and his Red Shirts protesters will not hesitate to break the law during any impending Bersih 5 rally.

Saying that it was the police’s responsibility to ensure public safety, Jamal however, added that if Bersih rally participants break the law, then the Red Shirts protesters will take take them on, The Star reported.

“We are not thinking about fighting. But if they start first, we will fight back. If they break the law, then there’s nothing wrong with us doing it.

“It is the responsibility of the police to ensure public safety. Not ours,” he was quoted as saying by the daily, at a gathering to promote the Red Shirts here yesterday.

Commenting on the Tangkap MO1 rally on Saturday, Jamal said he had identified 35 students who were involved and claimed to have spoken to them as well.

“When I asked them what they were doing there, they said they had no idea. They didn’t even know what DoJ (US Department of Justice) was.

“I know that 35 of them will face disciplinary action by their respective universities, and possible legal action.

“We know these students were used by Bersih. It is disgusting that they were forced to put up placards of defaced images of the Prime Minister,” he said, according to The Star.

At the gathering yesterday, Jamal also paraded a few local Indians and Chinese, allegedly representing NGOs, saying that they were also in support of his Red Shirts group.

Saying they were Barisan Nasional supporters, Jamal introduced them as Terrence Yee, Raja Kamal and Sarimalingam Doraisamy.

When questioned by reporters, Raja and Sarimalingam, said they were both supportive of the Red Shirts but added they did not know anything about the DoJ and were uncertain on the issues surrounding the 1MDB scandal.
