According to checks by the New Straits Times (NST), the bus company was still openly selling its tickets at the Integrated Transport Terminal in Bandar Tasik Selatan, and making trips to at least five southbound destinations.
A journalist from the English daily had even bought a 1pm trip to Tampoi, Johor.
The bus departed with at least 10 passengers who were not aware of the suspension.
QisTna’s departure times were also displayed on the terminal’s information boards. It had five scheduled trips yesterday – to Tampoi, Larkin and Skudai in Johor, and Little India and Beach Road in Singapore.
However, no trips were available to northbound destinations.
The daily spoke to a bus driver from a different company who said he was surprised that QisTna’s tickets were still being sold as he did not see any of its buses at the depot earlier in the day.
An attendant at QisTna’s counter appeared to be at a loss for words when approached, and only managed to say the company may be using a “different bus”.
“Yes, perhaps they are using a different bus. Maybe they will be more careful this time,” the attendant said.
Last week, two people were injured when the company’s out-of-control bus rammed into 10 cars on the PLUS highway, after passing the Menora Tunnel, near Ipoh.
It was later revealed that the bus driver had nine outstanding traffic summonses for various offences, while 63 were issued against the company for 29 different drivers.
Following the incident, the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) slapped the company with a suspension notice for failure to comply with safety requirements.
FMT was not able to reach SPAD for comments. However, it is believed that the commission will hold a press conference at 3pm today.
