Wan Imar also said that although his father was no longer with him, his spirit was still alive.
“And that spirit is what gives us the strength to continue with our lives and carry on our late father’s struggle,” he told FMT when met at the family home.
Wan Imar, who manages his father’s business, W&W Architect in London, said when he first heard of the fatal helicopter crash that took his father’s life, three things flashed across his mind.
“While I accepted my father’s passing, I wondered how I would take care of my mother and siblings and how I was going to continue our father’s struggle,” he said.
Focusing on the career
When asked by reporters about the new direction his life would take now that his father had passed on, Wan Imar said he was putting his career first.
“Many say I will be involved in politics after this, but I don’t think so because my three siblings and I want to focus on our careers first,” he said.
However, he said he would be campaigning for his mother, Barisan Nasional candidate Mastura Mohd Yazid in the upcoming Kuala Kangsar by-election.
Fulfilling the late Wan Khair-il’s last wish
Wan Imar said his father’s last wish was to see him married next August. His dad was also very excited about constructing his son’s wedding dais.
“Even though my father is no longer here, through the bond in our family, I will realise his last wish.
“I can’t imagine what it will feel like getting married without my father there. Only Allah knows. But I will do all I can to ensure the wedding takes place,” he said.
Wan Imar’s other siblings are Wan Emir Astar, 26; Wan Iskandar, 23; and Wan Muhammad Amar, 19.
