PASIR PUTEH:
PAS ulamas must stop their vitriolic attacks against their political opponents, including those from Umno and Barisan Nasional, the party’s information chief, Nasrudin Hassan Tantawi said.

Nasrudin said this is also in line with the call by PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang for a greater display of political maturity by all leaders in the Islamist party.

“The behaviour of our ulamas, including the content of their political speeches, must exude admirable qualities.

“Our struggle will look insignificant if we only attack Umno and BN. The ulamas should also practice mature politics,” Nasrudin said at the opening of the 55th annual PAS muktamar at Tok Bali near here today.

He urged the ulamas to speak to people about the party’s goals and agenda without having to attack its detractors

“This is not our culture. We should not be emotional when criticising our opponents but instead address the matter with facts.”

Nasrudin, who sits on the ulama council, said that practicing mature politics will boost PAS’ image and that of its leaders.
