KUCHING:
Sarawak Barisan Nasional might win between 68 and 72 seats in the state elections on May 7, according to Abang Johari Tun Openg, deputy president of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu.

He said yesterdya that BN Sarawak had an assessment and came out with a forecast showing between 68 and 70 seats. “May be 72. But our confident count is at least 68 for now. From the feedback that we received there are clear signs of victory,” he said as campaigning for elections to the state assembly entered the fifth day.

Abang Johari who seeks re-election in Satok, urged the election machinery of the party to work hard, including in areas that are considered ‘white’ (winnable areas) areas for BN.

There is also a need to move closer to the younger generation to garner their votes, he said.

Abang Johari said the people of Sarawak must give the Sarawak BN leadership under Adenan Satem a bigger mandate to continue the development agendas.

The PBB deputy president will face Mohamed Salleh Shawkatali from PKR for the Satok seat.
