Restoran Soon Wah is one of the more well-known seafood restaurants in Klang. Foodies from all over the Klang Valley actually come all the way here to enjoy their famed signature dish – the fish soup pot.

This eatery is located on a corner lot in Taman Berkeley where parking isn’t too much of a challenge. The restaurant is partially air conditioned, with an aquarium displaying some live fish for order, and classic red tablecloths.

As ordering is done without any menu – just talk to your server – you might miss out on the fish pot unless they specifically mention it or you know it exists.

The signature fish soup pot comes with a mix of tasty and presumably nutritious ingredients: fresh fish meat of your preferred cut (meat, head, tail), mushrooms, tomato, seaweed, and even yam, all in a flavoursome soup base that is best described as heartwarming.

The soup can be enjoyed with steamed rice, or you can have it with bihun as well. It’s the perfect dish to have on a rainy day.

Other items worth trying are the watermelon pork ribs, a dish that is as creative as it is delicious. The balls of sweet, fresh watermelon pair surprisingly well with the savoury ribs – a must-order.

Also not to be missed are the claypot seafood and tofu, kailan with roast pork, and fried sweet potato leaves with garlic. These are as good as any and make for ideal companion dishes.
