If you’re from KL and find yourself craving for some hot, slurrpy prawn mee or lam mee, then San Peng Prawn Mee is the place to be.
The restaurant is located in a make-shift, semi-alfresco shop right in the middle of Jalan San Peng (hence the name).

Over here, prawn mee and lam mee are the two most popular dishes, but they also offer kai si hor fun, fish ball soup, and various other combinations you can think of.
Two big servings of both dishes (with extra prawns) costs RM25 each and as it turns out, it’s not a bad idea to splurge on these, as the prawns are huge, fresh, and absolutely delicious.
The prawn mee is slightly different from the more famous Penang version. While both soup bases involve prawn shells, chicken instead of pork is used in this interpretation.
Apart from that, there’s also kangkung (water spinach), fried shallots, smaller prawns, a mix of both thick and thin rice noodles. Not to mention, you also get chunks of perfectly poached chicken.
The soup is slightly lighter but packed with sweetness from the prawns. You will also enjoy the big, peeled prawns as the heads are not cut off.

The lam mee is equally delicious and comes with similar ingredients except for the use of thick noodle that’s not entirely unlike udon.
These are just the two most popular dishes here but judging from the crowds that throng here each day, it’s definitely worth a shot to try their other dishes (and side dishes & extra ingredients). But, if you’re a fan of prawn mee, this version should not be missed.
