Four years after the pandemic, inflation and the rising costs of living have led many Malaysians to seek out cheaper food options.
The good news is, if you look hard enough, there are places that refuse to buckle and continue providing affordable meals. One such establishment is All Family Restaurant in Klang.
Situated between the more popular areas of Bandar Botanik and Klang town, All Family has been operating for decades now, with patrons mainly consisting of locals who do not wish to burn a hole in their wallet come mealtime.
Like many stalls that sell “chicken rice”, they also offer roast duck, road pork, BBQ pork (char siew), and even salted chicken, in addition to the usual roast chicken. And the best part is, it’s all priced at RM4.50 a plate.
Yes, you can enjoy Menu Rahmah-type pricing for something most places would charge up to RM10 these days!
That said, do temper your expectations – a single portion of the RM4.50 meal here is adequate but not particularly big.
You might end up ordering two types of meat with rice: a serving of roast duck and roast pork may cost RM7, while a roast pork and char siew combo might set you back RM6.
Nevertheless, it’s still great value for money, and if you’re so inclined, you can also order the braised chicken feet, which costs around RM1 per piece.
Taste wise, the fare here is acceptable and will satisfy you enough even if it’s not particularly memorable. Really, the key attraction is the value, which makes All Family a treasure worth revisiting over and over.
