If you’re in Klang and have a hankering for a hearty noodle dish with seafood, check out Uncle Ooi Prawn Noodle House at Bandar Bukit Raja.

The menu at this comfortable establishment sports about a dozen main dishes, the headliner being their tiger prawn mee.

Other offerings include the signature prawn mee (soup/dry), and variations of yee mee, loh mee, and curry noodle. They also offer side dishes such as roast pork, fish cake, and loh bak.

First-timers are highly encouraged to try out their specialty, the tiger prawn mee, which is priced at a reasonable RM16.50.

What you can expect is a bowl of Penang-style prawn mee (often known as Hokkien mee in the north) with two large prawns, along with the usual ingredients – kangkung, bean sprouts, sliced pork, half an egg, shallots, and yes, even regular-size prawns.

Uncle Ooi Prawn Noodle House, located in Bandar Bukit Raja, also serves loh mee and a variety of other noodle dishes. (KY Speaks pics)

All of this is swimming in a broth packed with a thick and flavoursome prawn head and shell flavour. If you’re a seafood fan, you certainly won’t be disappointed!

The big prawns are certainly worth the additional RM6 over the signature version, and you can be assured they are fresh, juicy, and taste fantastic.

Asking for an extra serving of fried shallots (for an additional 50 sen) is also highly recommended if you’re a fan. Enjoy the umami overload!
