In Malaysia, when the weather is hot, the perfect way to cool down is with an ice-cold bowl of syrupy Cendol or Ais Kacang. One spot that serves up a truly satisfying bowl of Cendol can be found in Shah Alam, and is called Cendol Pak Akob
Located just outside the mosque at Shah Alam Seksyen 16, Cendol Pak Akob is no stranger to the locals and students of UiTM, a huge university nearby.

This Cendol business is operated from one of those original food trucks that’s been around for decades (one where the operator stands by the side instead of INSIDE the truck).
Thankfully, the owner of this food truck also sets out a few tables and chairs for the convenience of customers, complete with giant umbrellas to keep them shaded from the scorching heat.

Pak Akob offers the standard bowl of Cendol for only RM1.50, but if you prefer additions to your desserts, that can be arranged too. He has five exciting variations popular with his customers:
• Cendol Pulut (RM2.50)
• Cendol Tapai (RM2.50)
• Cendol Jagung (RM2.00)
• Cendol Pulut Jagung (RM2.50)
• Cendol Tapai Jagung (RM2.50)

Customers are also allowed to mix and match any of the additions according to their personal preferences.
A firm favourite seems to be the Cendol with Tapai, a form of fermented glutinous rice with a sourish flavour, that perfectly complements the natural sweetness of the Cendol.
On a hot day just after you’ve devoured a hearty meal in Klang, take as short drive for Cendol in this spot in Shah Alam. It’ll sure be worth the effort.
