Siti Nurhaliza welcomes baby girl

Siti Nurhaliza's husband Khalid Mohamad Jiwa says they chose today for the birth as Prophet Muhammad was born on a Monday.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Singer Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin gave birth to a baby girl via Caesarean section at a medical centre in the capital at 8.17am today.

Siti Nurhaliza’s husband, Khalid Mohamad Jiwa, said both mother and daughter, who weighed 3.55kg at birth, were doing well.

He also expressed his gratitude for the safe and smooth labour, saying they had chose Monday for the birth as the Prophet Muhammad was born on a Monday.

It is also the first day of the Islamic month of Rejab.

“Thank you for all the prayers and support from family members, friends, fans and media practitioners throughout her pregnancy till birth.

“For the time being, Siti needs some space to relax and concentrate on the early days of motherhood,” he said in a statement posted by Siti Nurhaliza’s manager Rozi Abdul Razak on the singer’s official Facebook page today.

Born in Kuala Lipis, Pahang, Siti Nurhaliza, 39, tied the knot with Khalid on Aug 21, 2006 at the Federal Territory Mosque at Jalan Duta here.
