PETALING JAYA:
Swedish telecommunications service provider Ericsson said it will continue to engage with the new administration under Anwar Ibrahim, mobile network operators, and the local industry to hasten Malaysia’s digital transformation.

The company’s country head David Hägerbro said Ericsson will continue supporting the Malaysian government’s ambitions to deliver a new era of growth, connectivity, and prosperity for the people.

“The 5G network we are rolling out together with Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) for Malaysia will be a catalyst for economic growth, transform lifestyles, and deliver best-in-class education and healthcare,” he added.

Established in March 2021, DNB will be Malaysia’s single wholesale 5G network operator. It has been mandated to roll out the country’s 5G network and infrastructure across the nation.

According to Ericsson’s largest consumer study, about four million Malaysians are expected to experience 5G broadband cellular network service once it goes live in 2023.

Ericsson’s place in Malaysia began in 1964 when they had tied up with Telekom Malaysia for the delivery of crossbar switch. This marks 58 years of playing a role in Malaysia’s telecommunications history.
