Bank Rakyat holds ‘open day’ to help customers keen on loan moratorium

Three days set aside for those in a fix over resuming loan repayments from next month following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bank Rakyat is holding open days at 17 branches today and on Sept 19 and 26 to help customers wanting to defer financing payments after the loan moratorium ends on Sept 30.

Bank Rakyat CEO Rosman Mohamed said this includes branches in Johor Bahru; Jalan Hang Tuah, Melaka; Seremban; Presint 8, Putrajaya; Seksyen 14, Shah Alam; Sungai Buloh as well as Jalan Tangsi and Jalan Ipoh in Kuala Lumpur.

Others are Medan Gopeng in Ipoh; Teluk Intan; Bukit Mertajam; Temerloh; Kuantan; Kuala Terengganu; Kota Bharu; Satok; Kuching; and Kota Kinabalu.

“The open day is from 10am to 3pm. We will try to help affected customers and those who need help,” he told a press conference after a Bank Rakyat dinner with media practitioners here last night.

Rosman said the bank had begun receiving many applications for assistance from customers who are facing difficulties to continue their loan payments after the six-month moratorium ends on Sept 30.

Also present was Bank Rakyat deputy CEO for business Mohammad Hanis Osman.
