Online media reported that the incident allegedly occurred after the stewardess refused to allow the couple to bring their luggage into the cabin as it was overweight.
Deli Serdang resident police chief Robert Da Costa was quoted as saying that in the 9am incident, the couple beat and pushed the stewardess after she told them to remove the luggage and place it in the cargo compartment.
The incident prompted the pilot of the flight QG 0837 to call airport security guards to take the couple out, saying that the flight would not depart with them onboard.
Da Costa said the airline company refunded the couple with no legal action taken against them.
The flight departed for Jakarta at 10.40am.
