JOHOR BAHRU:
Legoland Malaysia is welcoming back visitors after months of being shut due to the pandemic.

Located in Johor, the attraction first opened its doors in September 2012 and features over 40 shows, rides and attractions, including Lego workshops that are perfect for the whole family.

There are three main attractions here, namely the theme park itself, the water park, and the Sea Life aquarium.

The theme park is divided into eight areas, each with a different theme of its own.

  • The Beginning

This is the entrance to the theme park where the Legoland experience begins. A huge stage hosts many shows and performances, while food trucks offer snacks and treats to excited guests.

The main attraction here is The Big Shop, Southeast Asia’s largest Lego store, where you can find Lego goodies galore!

  • Miniland

The first stop is Miniland, Legoland’s recreation of Asia made out of Lego bricks. The highly detailed clusters pay tribute to 17 different cities and countries across Asia, including Johor Bahru and Singapore, and even features a kampung cluster, one of its newest additions.

The theme park is divided into eight intricately detailed themed areas, such as Kingdoms. (Legoland pic)

This Miniland is the largest of its kind – it took a team of more than 100 people from around the world three years to build, using over 30 million Lego bricks.

  • Imagination

In this area, imagination knows no bounds as you are treated to your fill of movies, music and magic. A Duplo-inspired play area filled with building sets and blocks allows the younger ones to enjoy experimenting, testing and building.

  • Kingdoms

Crossing the drawbridge you arrive at the next stop, Kingdoms, where you enter a magnificent castle to explore legendary folklore rife with fearsome dragons and fearless knights.

Partake in various activities from the Dragon roller coaster and the Dragon Apprentice – a smaller-scale roller coaster for younger guests – to a multilevel playground filled with slides and ropes.

  • Land of Adventure

Guests are brought back to the past where pharaohs and gods roam. The main attraction here is Dino Island, where riders sit in a canoe and are taken past rocky outcrops, plants, and a dinosaur lagoon – with the only way out being down a 12m-high waterfall!

Another popular feature is the Lost Kingdom Adventure. Take on the role of a hero and go on a laser-blasting hunt for hidden treasure.

There are also rides for younger guests such as the Pharaoh’s Revenge play area and Beetle Bounce, which launches children up and down a 4.5m tower with gigantic Lego beetles at the top.

At Lego City, parents and children can enjoy a day out on the water at the Boating School. (Legoland pic)
  • City

Here, children will be able to have their first experience behind the wheel at the Driving School and can even apply for a driver’s licence.

Lego City also offers a Boating School, where both children and adults have the opportunity to captain a boat.

  • Technic

Get ready to step into the future! Lego Mindstorms is the place to be for budding robot designers who wish to build the future out of Lego bricks.

The main attraction has to be the Great Lego Race, which combines virtual-reality technology with a roller coaster ride.
