It can be hard to find a reasonably priced lunch in KL, especially in such stylish surroundings.

In the days pre-Covid-19 and pre-work from home, office workers would enjoy lunching together, sampling the food the city centre has to offer – from roadside warungs to hotel restaurants and cafés.

A favourite place to head to is Petaling Street in the centre of Kuala Lumpur where the choices seem endless.

If you’re looking for something halal, delicious and light on your pocket, pop into Luckin Kopi then.

This restaurant is situated along Jalan Panggong, near Petaling Street. The road is lined with unique, Instagrammable cafés, so it can be hard to find a spot to park your car if you’re there at lunch time.

Fortunately, just opposite Luckin Kopi is a large car park that charges RM5 per hour. On weekends it’s RM10 for a minimum of two hours. Considering it is the centre of Kuala Lumpur, that’s not bad.

Alternatively, take the MRT Kajang Line and disembark at Pasar Seni station at Entrance A. Or take the Kelana Jaya LRT line to Pasar Seni. From there, it is just a short walk away.

Here are a few reasons to have a meal at Luckin Kopi:

1. It’s stylish

Many cafés in Kuala Lumpur are established in newer shophouses but Luckin Kopi is actually a real pre-war shophouse that has been stylishly refurbished.

The original bricks used to construct the building are visible and the bare ceiling design gives Luckin Kopi a loft aesthetic.

2. It’s inexpensive

Noodles and rice dishes here are priced under RM10. It is hard to get such a good deal in KL and at a café like this. And the food is tasty with a varied menu.

3. Covid-19 SOPs in place

Pre-Covid-19, Luckin Kopi would usually be full and the tables were placed quite close together. Now, the social distancing SOPs are being observed with fewer tables for dine-in patrons.

4. Fast service

Next is the service itself. No matter how many patrons are at Luckin Kopi, the service is fast. You are not be kept waiting for your food and drinks even at lunch time. That is one reason it is so popular.

5. Great coffee

Well, it is a coffee shop after all, so the coffee had better be good. For those who enjoy their coffee strong and without milk and sugar to taste the full original coffee flavour, the kopi-O kosong is highly recommended.

Another interesting offering is the three-states coffee – three small cups of coffee from Ipoh, Melaka and KL, together with some old-fashioned biscuits.

You can surely taste the distinctive flavours of the coffee from the different states.
