The company also announced the redesignation of Isaac Lugun as group non-independent non-executive director, also effective today.
CMSB group chairman Abdul Rashid Manaf said Sulaiman’s familiarity with CMSB and his wide-ranging experience in businesses will be invaluable to the group as it consolidates, streamlines and moves towards a new growth path, post-pandemic.
“The appointment (of Sulaiman) is due to the early retirement of CMSB group MD Isaac Lugun, who has been made a non-independent non-executive director,” he said in a statement today.
Sulaiman brings with him a wealth of experience in banking, finance, and insurance after having been the executive chairman of RHB Capital Bhd and its group of companies.
During this period, he was also appointed by the government to the board of the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT).
Sulaiman is also experienced in manufacturing, property development and stockbroking and is familiar with CMSB after serving in various capacities in the company from 1995 to 2008, including as group chairman and group executive director.
He went on to become Kota Samarahan MP in 2008 and was subsequently appointed deputy tourism minister before venturing abroad to oversee various private investments over the last few years after fulfilling his political term.
