In a Facebook post, the wing’s chief Saiful Fariddil Jasmi said the report was lodged at the Kangar police headquarters this evening after a video of the shrine was shared on social media.
“We urge the authorities to conduct a transparent and thorough investigation to ensure such incidents do not recur, and to take firm action against the premises owner if any wrongdoing is established,” he said.
He also said that Umno Youth will not remain silent when matters touching on the sanctity of religion are trivialised or turned into a subject of provocation.
When contacted, Kangar police chief Yusharifuddin Yusop briefly said the matter is being investigated.
This incident comes about a month after a shrine in Jasin, Melaka, was found with the word “Allah” and another Islamic term written on its wall.
The shrine was demolished following an agreement reached between the landowner and the authorities. Sacred items from the shrine were relocated to a different site after the landowner completed religious rites.
