SEREMBAN:
Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun has denied reports that he has appointed a shadow executive council lineup to fill four vacancies following the withdrawal of support by Umno’s 14 assemblymen.

Aminuddin said a viral poster circulating online was an attempt to tarnish the state government’s image.

“A poster is being circulated to damage the image of the Negeri Sembilan government. They are trying to inflame racial sentiment. This is the work of irresponsible parties who want to disrupt harmony among the people in this state.

“I urge the public to be cautious of fake news or posters spread on social media platforms. May Allah protect us all from slander in these trying times,” he said in a statement.

The viral poster showed that three of the four vacancies left by the Umno assemblymen would be filled by Chuah assemblyman Yew Boon Lye and Sri Tanjung assemblyman G Rajasekaran, both from PKR, as well as Seremban Jaya assemblyman P Gunasekaren of DAP.

The four Umno members of the executive council were Pertang assemblyman Jalaluddin Alias, Senaling assemblyman Ismail Lasim, Palong assemblyman Mustapha Nagoor, and Linggi assemblyman Faizal Ramli.

Yesterday, Aminuddin said the four exco positions held by Umno assemblymen were deemed vacant after all 14 representatives from the party withdrew support for the state government.

He added that their replacements would be decided at a later stage.

The 14 Umno-Barisan Nasional assemblymen declared a loss of confidence in Aminuddin as menteri besar and withdrew their support for his administration yesterday.

Following this, five Perikatan Nasional assemblymen said they were ready to work with the 14 Umno assemblymen to form a new state government to ensure stability.

Pakatan Harapan has 17 assemblymen, including Aminuddin.

However, Aminuddin said yesterday that the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan wanted him to remain in the top post until the issue of his majority support was resolved.
