Speaker MK Ibrahim Abd Rahman said new dates would be determined once consent is obtained from the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
“We will set a new date and send out notices later. Next week’s sitting will not be held,” The Star quoted him as saying.
Ibrahim said the postponement was to address the state’s current situation and ensure that the sitting runs smoothly.
“I hope we will be able to overcome the situation we are facing now before the assembly meets again,” he said.
Earlier today, Tuanku Muhriz said the state’s administration must continue to function as usual to ensure orderly governance and safeguard public interest.
In his royal address at the opening of the fourth session of the state’s 15th legislative assembly, he expressed hope that Negeri Sembilan and its people would continue to be blessed under the leadership of menteri besar Aminuddin Harun and the state executive council.
On Monday, Aminuddin said the state government did not recognise the recent move to depose Tuanku Muhriz as the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan.
The former Undang of Sungai Ujong, Mubarak Dohak, announced Tuanku Muhriz’s removal in a press conference with the three other Undangs last Sunday.
In Negeri Sembilan, the four Undangs represent the main traditional districts or luak: Sungai Ujong, Jelebu, Johol, and Rembau.
They are traditional territorial chiefs who play a central role in electing the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan and advising on customary law under the state’s adat perpatih.
