
Johari Ramlan, 36, pleaded guilty to criminal intimidation and fraudulent possession of property after the charges were read out before magistrate Arun Noval Dass, the New Straits Times reported.
According to the facts of the case, Johari berated his mother on April 2 after the 74-year-old refused to let him use a mobile phone. He then threatened to slaughter the entire family that very night.
Johari’s sister-in-law, who witnessed the incident at a house in Kampung Kelichap, Senggarang, lodged a police report.
In a separate incident, Johari was found in possession of stolen copper wire at an abandoned house on Jalan Sungai Suluh Besar, Senggarang, at 3.20pm on April 17.
The court sentenced him to four months’ jail for criminal intimidation and three months for possessing stolen property, with both sentences to run concurrently from April 16, the date of his arrest.
Deputy public prosecutor Firdaus Ruslan appeared for the prosecution, while Johari was represented by lawyer Tan Song Yan.
