Wheelchair-bound man found drowned after going fishing

Police say the man, aged 63, had gone with two friends on April 3 to a jetty to fish. His body was found this morning 5.5km away.

SHAH ALAM:
An elderly man in a wheelchair was found drowned in Sungai Kampung Kuantan, Kuala Selangor, today, three days after he was reported missing after falling into the river.

The Selangor fire and rescue department said the body of the 63-year-old man was discovered at about 8.30am near the Batu Tujuh Setengah jetty, 5.5km from where he is believed to have fallen.

Kuala Selangor district police chief Azaharudin Tajudin said the victim’s friend had filed a missing persons report on April 3. He said they had gone with another friend to a jetty to fish.

He said he was asked to go out and buy drinks, but on his return found that the victim, who was a kidney patient, was no longer there and was believed to have fallen into the river.
