Autistic boy found drowned in hotel lake

A nine-year-old boy with autism was found drowned in a hotel lake in Lukut, near here, after he was believed to have left his room without his family’s knowledge yesterday.

Port Dickson police chief Maslan Udin said a 44-year-old family member filed a report on the incident at about 8.05pm.

Maslan said the boy, who was vacationing with his family, was reported missing at about 3.30pm after he was believed to have left the hotel room unnoticed.

He was found drowned in the lake by hotel staff and family members who searched for him.

Maslan said a post-mortem conducted at Port Dickson Hospital today confirmed the cause of death as drowning.

The case has been classified as sudden death.
