PKR central leadership council member A Kumaresan accused Rafizi of being arrogant and threatening by saying he would become more vocal and “dangerous” to the party if he were pushed out.
The Batu Uban assemblyman said no leader who was truly sincere about PKR’s struggle would threaten the party for political leverage, describing Rafizi’s conduct as “internal sabotage”.
“At a time when Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is leading the government through global economic challenges, Rafizi is choosing to engage in cheap political theatrics by attacking the PKR leadership openly.
“This is not bravery but irresponsibility that risks weakening the party and government in the eyes of Malaysians.
“Rafizi cannot remain in PKR while wrecking the party from within. For the sake of the party’s honour and the people’s confidence, Rafizi must resign (from PKR),” he said in a statement.
Yesterday, Rafizi warned against calls for him to leave PKR, saying it would allow him to be even more outspoken and “dangerous” to the party.
The Pandan MP has been openly critical of the government and PKR since he lost the race for the party’s deputy presidency and relinquishing the economy minister’s post in May last year.
