PETALING JAYA:
The Kelana Jaya LRT line has been hit by yet another disruption, with one train withdrawn from service for inspection.

In a Facebook post at 6.43pm, Rapid KL said a train had to be manually operated between the KL Sentral and Masjid Jamek stations.

“Train movements at other stations are expected to be slower, and platform stopping times will be longer than usual,” it said.

In an update 10 minutes later, Rapid KL said the train involved had returned to usual automatic operation, while train frequency is being regulated.

This is the third time this week that the Kelana Jaya line has experienced disruptions, after a power outage on Tuesday and a tree branch falling on the tracks yesterday.

Earlier, the Ampang/Sri Petaling line also suffered a power outage between the Awan Besar and Sri Petaling stations, forcing immediate repair works and alternative services to be activated.

The line has since resumed normal operations though full recovery would take some time.

Last month, public transport operator Prasarana Malaysia Bhd submitted a recovery action plan for the Kelana Jaya LRT line to the Cabinet following recent service disruptions.

The company had been ordered to come up with the plan by transport minister Loke Siew Fook following repeated disruptions. Prasarana is also set to get 26 new trains for the Kelana Jaya line by 2028.
