PETALING JAYA:
Grab Malaysia has suspended a driver accused of assaulting a 17-year-old boy in Kajang on Wednesday.

The company said it is cooperating with authorities and assisting the teenager to ensure a thorough investigation into the matter.

In a statement to FMT, Grab said: “We are sorry the passenger had this experience on our platform. Grab Malaysia upholds a strict code of conduct for both our driver-partners and users, and maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards violations of the code.”

The teenager has filed a report at the Kajang police station saying he was assaulted at the end of a trip from Saujana Palma Residence to Kajang Perdana. He said the driver overshot the requested spot upon arrival and refused to go back.

“I asked the driver to reverse as there were many stray dogs at the spot where he stopped,” the boy said in his report. “However, he ordered me to get out of the vehicle right away.

“When I got out and closed the door, it shut loudly. The driver came out and hit me on the head, face and body,” the boy said.

The boy said he suffered injuries to his left thumb and cheek after falling during the altercation with the driver.

FMT has sought comment from Kajang police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof.
