Late-night fire causes 70% damage at Bukit Bintang furniture shop

The blaze almost destroys two floors housing furniture and perfume businesses, but no casualties were reported.

KUALA LUMPUR:
A three-storey furniture shop in Bukit Bintang here was destroyed in a fire last night.

The fire and rescue department operations centre said it received an emergency call just before 11pm.

Firefighters from the Pudu station, assisted by teams from Hang Tuah and Tun Razak, were deployed to the scene.

“The fire affected the ground floor and second floor of the building, which housed furniture and perfume businesses, with damage estimated at 70%,” the department said in a statement.

No casualties were reported.

The cause of the fire and the extent of losses are under investigation.
