SANDAKAN: An 84-year-old woman was found dead after the two-storey house she was living in caught fire at Jalan Fook Hin, Batu 12, here last night.
Sandakan fire and rescue station chief Jimmy Lagung said the victim was discovered by firefighters in the living room at 10.44pm. Her body was handed over to the police for further action.
“She was trapped inside the house when the fire broke out, and her body was removed by fire and rescue department personnel,” he said.
Jimmy said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 8.38pm, and 13 firefighters were deployed to the scene.
The blaze was brought under control at 9.35pm.
