KOTA KINABALU:
Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor’s administration has officially announced that Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan are working with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah to form the new state government.

However, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku’s (STAR) position in the government is still not certain at this time.

The announcement was made by deputy chief minister I Joachim Gunsalam, representing Hajiji, at a press conference at Sri Gaya this afternoon.

He was asked about the status of BN and PH in the new state government.

GRS, BN and PH are partners in the federal government under the administration of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the PH chairman.

PH’s participation in Hajiji’s government was expected as GRS had previously expressed its willingness to continue the cooperation that existed between both coalitions during Hajiji’s previous administration.

Yesterday, STAR president Jeffrey Kitingan confirmed that the party’s two assemblymen – himself and Bingkor assemblyman Ishak Ayub – will support Hajiji as the chief minister.

Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki also confirmed that BN had given its support to form the Sabah government with Hajiji at the helm.

BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had also said the coalition was willing to work with “like-minded” parties to form the state government.
