PETALING JAYA:
The Selangor government will give RM500 in cash aid to each of the 750 families displaced by the recent floods who are currently staying at temporary relief centres (PPS), menteri besar Amirudin Shari announced today.

He said district offices would also provide free transport services for 221 SPM students, who are among the flood victims, to travel between the examination centres and the relief centres.

“Yayasan MBI will also help students who have lost stationery or digital tools in the floods, to ensure that they can continue with their studies,” he said in a statement.

Amirudin also said he had ordered the expedition of flood mitigation projects in several hotspot areas.

“These efforts will be monitored and detailed this afternoon by the state’s infrastructure and agriculture committee chairman, Izham Hashim,” he added.

According to Amirudin, 2,784 victims have been placed at 21 PPS across five districts, namely Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Langat, Petaling and Klang.

The National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre yesterday said Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat, and Klang remained at risk, with flooding expected to continue until today.

Areas near rivers such as Sungai Buloh, Sungai Klang, Sungai Damansara and Sungai Langat are likely to be the most affected.
