
PETALING JAYA: A man died and three others were seriously injured when a four-wheel drive vehicle skidded and plunged into a 6m-deep ravine along Jalan Kunak-Tawau in Sabah this morning.
Kunak fire and rescue station chief Mohamad Omarbatha said a team of six firefighters, along with an emergency services assistance unit, was dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 4.15am.
The team arrived 25 minutes later and found the vehicle at the bottom of the slope with four victims trapped inside, Bernama reported.
He said one of the four, identified as Herdin Basri, was confirmed dead at the scene.
The other three – Indonesian national Rahman Sulaiman, 39, Ali Gapare, 35, and Hafiz Haling, 28 – sustained serious injuries.
They were taken to Tawau Hospital and Kunak Hospital for treatment.
