Brickfields police chief Hoo Chang Hook said they were informed of the brawl at about 3.40am, with two victims suffering serious injuries after being attacked with sharp objects and metal rods.
He said the incident is believed to have been sparked by one of the suspects feeling jealous over his former girlfriend dating one of the victims.
“The first victim suffered injuries on his arm, back and leg, while the second sustained injuries on the head after being hit with a sharp object. Both victims are in stable condition and receiving treatment in Ampang Hospital,” he said in a statement.
He said police seized metal rods believed to have been used in the attack from the suspects.
Hoo said two of the suspects had criminal records for assault.
“Police are looking for other suspects to assist in the investigation,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Sections 326 and 148 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon, and rioting with a weapon, respectively.
