PETALING JAYA:
A 33-year-old man with a record of 20 criminal offences was arrested after allegedly attempting to ram police officers with his car while fleeing from a petrol station in Klang yesterday.

Klang Selatan police chief Ramli Kasa said that in the 2.30pm incident on Nov 12, officers had attempted to detain the man at the petrol station along Persiaran Raja Muda Musa in connection with a robbery reported in Subang Jaya.

He said the suspect pushed a police officer and sped off in a white Toyota Vios, going against traffic, hitting a police car and nearly running over another officer before abandoning the vehicle along Persiaran Sultan Ibrahim and fleeing on foot.

“One of our personnel was injured and the police vehicle was damaged,” he said in a statement.

Police arrested the suspect in Bandar Bukit Tinggi at about 12.45am today.

The man, who also has a record of five drug-related offences, is being investigated under Sections 186 and 307 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant and attempted murder.
