1 car destroyed, 5 damaged by falling rocks at Ampang apartments

Police say two rockfall incidents were reported at the parking lot of the Mutiara Court complex on Monday morning.

PETALING JAYA:
Six vehicles were damaged following two separate rockfall incidents at the Mutiara Court Apartments in Bukit Permai in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, this morning.

Ampang Jaya police chief Azam Ismail said the first incident was reported to have occurred at 8.15am, followed by a second incident at about 8.50am, at the apartments’ parking area.

“An investigation at the scene found that rocks had fallen from a hillside onto the parking lot.

“The incident caused damage to six vehicles. Five were successfully removed, while one car was destroyed,” he said in a statement.

No casualties were reported.

Azam said the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council carried out cleanup work using heavy machinery to clear the rocks and earth.
