Kelantan police chief Yusoff Mamat said they included privately owned jetties.
He said the demolition would be carried out in a pilot project that began today as part of reforms to strengthen security controls along the Malaysia-Thailand border, particularly in Kelantan.
He said out of the total, 216 jetties were constructed illegally on government land while seven others were privately owned jetties starting from Kubur to Tanah Merah.
“The demolition work will be carried out in stages due to limited machinery and is expected to be completed within one to two months.
“We will proceed based on available resources,” Bernama reported him as saying after inspecting the pilot demolition operation in Rantau Panjang, Kelantan.
Yusoff said enforcement action would be taken on the seven jetties built on private land after a review and the necessary legal processes were completed by the local authorities.
He said the operation was the result of nearly a year of planning, which included engagement sessions with local communities along Sungai Golok to explain the purpose of the demolition.
Separately, Kelantan immigration director Yusoff Khan Hassan said seven of the 75 illegal immigrants detained by the immigration department in an operation yesterday admitted to entering the country illegally via Sungai Golok.
Yusoff Khan said the seven immigrants, all men aged between 23 and 50 years, comprised five Bangladeshi nationals, an Indian national and a Myanmar national.
He said the 75 foreign nationals were arrested during an integrated operation carried out at construction sites in Pasir Mas and Kota Bharu yesterday.
